Minor performer checklist

Korean limits: 35 hours a week under 15, 40 hours from 15, night-work consent.

Under the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act (in force 2025-09-26), performers under 15 may work up to 35 hours a week and not between 10 pm and 6 am (until midnight before a school holiday with consent). From 15, the cap is 40 hours a week (+1 hour a day, up to +6 a week by agreement) and night work needs the consent of the minor and guardian. This checklist covers contracts, hours, prohibited acts and set practice.

The Excel file includes Example and Guide sheets next to the blank form. How to fill it in

How to fill it in

What it is for

The minor performer checklist makes sure contracts and consent, working hours, prohibited practices and on-set arrangements are all covered when a child or teenage actor works on the production. The production office keeps one sheet per performer and checks the same points with the guardian and agency.

When to use it

Fill it in when the performer is cast, before the contract is signed, then revisit the hours items once the schedule exists. During the shoot, update Done and Notes before each shooting day and weekly.

Field by field

  • Performer / role

    What
    The minor this sheet covers
    How
One sheet per performer. If two children share a role, make one each.

  • Age (under 15 / 15 and over)

    What
Age at the time of the shoot and which band applies
    How

    Example

  • Guardian / contact

    What
Parent or legal guardian who signed the consent
    How
Use the same name as on the consent form; if a different adult comes to set, add them too.

    Example
    PCAIDA Art. 21

Where the consent form is kept, scheduling rules — whatever lets the next person pick it up.
    Example
Original consent kept in production office

Tips

  • Hours follow the items on this sheet and the contract and applicable law. Logging call, first shot and wrap daily on the timesheet template shows weekly totals at a glance.
  • Schedule the minor’s scenes early in the day so a late-running day does not push them past the limits.
  • Get exam periods and school days from the guardian up front and mark them on the schedule.
  • Take consent in writing; keep the original in the office and a copy in the set file, and note where each is.
  • Secure a guardian waiting area and a separate changing space from the location scout onwards.

Common mistakes

  • Pushing the minor’s scenes to the end of a day that is running late, so the limits are exceeded.
  • Taking consent verbally with nothing in writing to show later.
  • Missing a birthday that moves the performer into a different band and scheduling on the old rules.
  • Not logging weekly hours, so you only find out at the end of the week that the limit was passed.
