Resident filming notice

A one-page A4 notice with filming dates, area, likely disruption (parking, access, noise, lighting), a request for cooperation and a contact.

A resident filming notice is a one-page A4 notice to post or hand out to neighbours and shops near a location. Under the title “Filming Notice” it has a greeting, production, company, dates and times, location and area, size of unit, possible disruption (parking, access, noise, lighting, other) with tick boxes, a request for cooperation, contact person, phone and hours, and a thank-you with date and sender lines. Fill in the blanks and post it.

How to fill it in

What it is for

The filming notice tells neighbours and shops near a location when and where filming will cause inconvenience. The greeting and request for cooperation are pre-written; the production office fills in only the blanks and the impact table. Telling people early and leaving a contact cuts complaints sharply.

When to use it

Make it once dates and area are confirmed, hand it to each household a few days before the shoot, and post it at building entrances and lifts. Agree the timing with the location owner and the regional film commission, and replace it if the schedule changes.

Field by field

  • Production

    What
    Title being filmed
    How
The official title neighbours will recognise. If it cannot be named yet, “drama filming” is enough.
    Example
    The Temperature Between Us
  • Production company

    What
    The company responsible
    How
Full legal name — it is the point of contact for questions and compensation.
    Example
    ○○ Pictures
  • Filming dates and times

    What
    When filming happens
    How
Include setup and wrap-out; if it runs past midnight, give the end date too. Add a weather backup date in brackets.
    Example
    2026-11-14 15:00–24:00 (rain date 2026-11-15)
  • Location and area

    What
Where filming happens and which area is affected
    How
Use terms neighbours know (“the alley in front of ○○ Villa”) and make the edges of the area clear.
    Example
Alley in front of Café Ondo (○○-ro 00–00)
  • Size of unit (crew / vehicles)

    What
How many people and vehicles will come
    How
Approximate headcount and vehicle count; mention big kit such as a generator truck or lighting crane.
    Example
About 40 cast and crew · 6 vehicles incl. 1 generator
  • Area

    What
Type of impact (parking, access, noise, lighting, other)
    How
Pre-filled. Fill in only the lines that apply and leave the rest blank.
  • Details (time / place)

    What
    When, where and what inconvenience
    How
Write in the “we will …” voice with specific times and places — “a few minutes at a time between 18:00 and 19:00” rather than “briefly”.
    Example
15:00–24:00 four parking spaces at the end of the alley
  • Applies

    What
    Whether the impact will happen
    How
Switch to ■ on every line you filled in.
    Example
    ■
  • Contact person

    What
    Who neighbours should call
    How
One production office member on site, with name and role — someone who picks up, not a switchboard.
    Example
    Doyun Park, production office
  • Phone

    What
    The contact’s mobile number
    How
The number that will actually be answered on the day.
    Example
    010-0000-0000
  • Available hours

    What
When the phone will be answered
    How
Cover the whole filming window plus clean-up after wrap.
    Example
    2026-11-12 to 11-15, 09:00–01:00

Tips

  • Fill in the date and “From” lines at the end by hand; giving both the company and the title builds trust.
  • Keep the polite tone of the pre-written text — “we kindly ask” reads better than “you must”.
  • Describe the impact honestly rather than playing it down; surprises cause bigger complaints.
  • Hand the notice to open shops in person and say hello — it makes cooperation much easier.
  • Photograph the posted notice; it is your record for the complaints line of the location checklist.

Common mistakes

  • Listing only camera time, so trucks arrive earlier than announced and neighbours complain.
  • Giving the office switchboard number, which nobody answers at night.
  • Leaving the old notice up after the schedule has changed.
  • Writing “brief closure” with no times, so residents do not know how long they will wait.

FAQ

When should the notice go up?

A few days before filming, after agreeing with the building manager; hand it to nearby shops in person. Give more notice for night or early-morning shoots.

What must it include?

When, where, what disruption to expect and who to call. Match the times and area to what was permitted, and give a number someone will actually answer on the day.
