- INT / EXTScene heading notation for interior (INT) and exterior (EXT). Lighting, gear and weather cover differ, so it matters when ordering the shoot. Scenes moving between both are marked I/E.
- StripboardA schedule board where each scene is a strip arranged in shooting order. By convention, colors mark interior/exterior and day/night (e.g. INT day white, EXT day yellow).
- DawnThe bluish light around sunrise. It changes fast and the usable window is short, so set-ups are prepared the day before and calls are timed to sunrise.
- DuskThe time from sunset until full dark. The light changes quickly, so these scenes are often shot in a short magic-hour window.
